The conservative radio host's ratings fell 27 percent in the key 25-54 demo in New York City, 31 percent in Houston-Galveston, 40 percent in Seattle-Tacoma, and 35 percent in Jacksonville, according to a selection of the March 29-April 25 Arbitron ratings provided by an industry source.
But defenders say that what looks like a decline actually represents a leveling out following increased attention from the controversy. In late March, Limbaugh boasted that his ratings had increased by as much as 60 percent in the month since he had called Fluke a "****" and a "prostitute" on air.
"On the range of all 600 radio stations, our ratings are up anywhere from 10 percent to 60 percent, depending on the station," he said.
"The most likely reason for these shifts is that Limbaugh talked about Sandra Fluke at the beginning of March, so it brought in a lot of non-regular listeners," one radio insider told me. "Now that the issue has more or less passed, those people aren't listening anymore."
No RL defender, but this sounds like it has merit.

Exactly. The key is to take the ratings over the periods before, during and after Fluke and then compare. It's like GDP numbers. Q4 is always up thanks to the Holidays then drops Q1. If it's at pre-holiday levels or above then good. If not then things are below the "norm".
I always take the results after a major event with a grain of salt especially when forecasting. I see this as no big deal unless the time before Fluke is significantly higher than these latest results.

Makes one wonder whether the OP read his own link. It raises questions about his theory regarding Rush:
,....Arbitron,...tracks the activity of a limited number of listeners and uses that data to make estimates about the entire market. This means that when a few listeners change listening habits, it can account for a significant shift in the monthly numbers. As a result, data can swing significantly month to month while actually looking relatively stable over an extended period of time.
Casts a lot of doubt on the validity of the OP's opening salvo......
Who thinks anybody in the NYC and Seattle areas listened to Rush, ever, even before the Fluck thing?
What a nonsense survey. They pick 4 areas, 2 of which are liberal hellholes who never listened to Rush in their lives but have ridiculous little opinions about him that they love to spew on the internet, in spite of themselves and their complete lack of knowledge.
Calling Rush Oxy boy makes me wonder if they call President Obama Coke boy?
Also wonder if calling President Obama at anytime a " Boy" is acceptable but calling someone else is?
