Meet The 91-Year-Old WWII Veteran Targeted By Florida's Voter Purge
Quote:
- 1638 people in Miami-Dade County were flagged by the state as “non-citizens” and sent letters informing them that they were ineligible to vote.

- Of that group, 359 people have subsquently provided the county with proof of citizenship.

Another 26 people were identified as U.S. citizens directly by the county.

In short, an excess of 20 percent of the voters flagged as “non-citizens” in Miami-Dade are, in fact, citizens. And the actual number may be much higher

EXCLUSIVE: Florida Telling Hundreds Of Eligible Citizens That They Are Ineligible To Vote | ThinkProgress

Florida's voter "purge" is the of the most disgusting things I've seen, there aren't just a few mistakes being made. When more than 20% of eligible voters are being disfranchised it's clear proof of an attempt to suppress the vote.

How exactly do you expect counties to clean out the dead people and those that moved from their registration lists if they dont go through them?

Maybe verifying that those folks are actually dead might be a good start.

No one is being disenfranchised (learn to spell). All they have to do to be able to vote is provide proof of citizenship.

Furthermore, where on earth did you hear that 20% of eligible voters are being affected by this? Did you get the 20% figure from where it is stated in your link (and in the part you quoted, no less) that 20% of those flagged as non-citizens in Miami-Dade County are citizens? It is also stated (this is also in what you quoted) that 1638 people in Miami-Dade County were flagged and 359 provided proof of citizenship, and the population of Miami-Dade County is about 2.5 million (meaning the number of eligible voters is likely at least 1.7-1.8 million or so).

You still have 1200 ineligible voters left, no big deal right?

I tell you what is disgusting, the fact this man has to go through this because of the actions of others. Futhermore if the Department of Homeland security had provided the data Florida requested perhaps he wouldn't be on this list but there would certainly be a whole lot more from other 180K that are potentially registered illegally.
