The reverend of a St. Paul church says he needs to raise $200,000 to pay off a church loan after most of his followers left because of his support for gay marriage.
The Rev. Oliver White runs Grace Community United Church of Christ in St. Paul. The 69-year-old said he needs to raise the money by June 30.
“We lost our income when we lost a number of people from our congregation.” White said.
White said two-thirds of his followers left after he said he supported same-sex marriage, and said he was against the marriage amendment that will be up for a vote in November.
Actually he is following the precepts of Christ, love one another, judge not etc. The United Church of Christ leans towards the progressive end of the theological spectrum and many of their churches are totally open and affirming - i.e. they recognise that gays & lesbians are loved and welcomed int God's family just as much as the hetero's.
He should have thought before opening his mouth. many churches are very political and ya better know the people you are preaching to, apparently he did not.
On the other hand, preachers who condemn homosexuals in their sermons will likely notice more money in the plates. So don't be surprised in seeing more videos of preachers doing that in their churches.
Good when deviate from scriptures in such a fundamental way it's clear you are not following the precepts of your faith.
Want to try that again in something other than caveman speak? Precepts of the Christian faith don't require followers to have the government force Christianity on others. Maybe I missed a gospel, but I don't recall Jesus saying that. He was rather accepting of others.
This proves that Christians are mainly about spreading hatred. A pastor that professes love for everyone is ostracized and the nutbag that said that all gays should be killed receives applause.
The influence of the Christian Taliban is increasing.

No, it proves that this congregation was unwilling to sit and listen to their minister blasphem in the form of endorsing same sex marriage. Not agreeing with same sex-marriage as a religious precept does not equate to hating homosexuals no matter how the activist extremists try to paint it as such.
Frankly, IMO, the diocese should have nipped this in the bud and replaced this minister before the congregation chose to find another church.

Jesus called for people to confess there sin and to go and sin no more. Someone who condones anothers sin does not love that person - they really hate them. We should be mutually correcting each other and striving to lead godly lives - not confusing loving one another with acceptance of sin.
Wonder why he even brought it up? I'm not saying he should/shouldn't but still...
