No we don't. But states are mandated to implement parts of the RealID program.
Lots of things being done today for our own safety poses constitutional questions yet they are moving forward anyway.

Yep. I see no valid reason why I should not be allowed to renew without shelling out again for a birth certificate. Remember, I produced it the first time, so why should I have to do it again?

Voter ID requirements are not inherently going to cause any kind of real voter oppression. Its just a political tactic to brand any changes to the voting system as being voter oppression by the party in charge. And then to blame any loss of an election on any change to the election system, the charge doesn't actually have to make any sense.

It is just political theater, and everyone knows it. So please stop being hypocrites and name-callers, and lets actually have real rational discussions please.

So why do voter ID laws not accept expired ID? Is there some problem with people carrying fraudulent expired driver licenses or something?

Right now it is current but there are new hoops to go through at renewal time due to Real ID.

With direct deposit and electronic payments becoming more common, the need to present ID to transact business is in decline.

Part of the problem with requiring photo ID for voting is that students studying out-of-state wouldn't be able to vote where they study if their photo ID was from a different state if they registered to vote in the state where their university is. Requiring driver's licenses at the polls introduces complications that can result in people being turned away from the polls.

Why is the GOP so worried about voter ID all of a sudden? Since this country was founded, photo ID hasn't been required at the polls. Incidents of voter fraud have been very minimal with extremely rare exception. Why isn't the GOP concerned about all the election fraud perpetrated during the two Bush Jr. elections? Moving polling stations at the last minute, closing polling stations early, deliberately providing an inadequate number of voting booths at polling stations, distributing faulty voting machines, etc. Where is the GOP hue and cry over these problems?

All of that is left-wing tin foil hat conspiracy theories.

Democrats opposing verification of citizenship for voting is right out there - front and center. They shamelessly advocate for letting ineligible people vote.

I get an image of copies of the Constitution being thrown into a fire when I think of the word "Democrat".

come on man, you know better than to accuse.

If your license is current right now , these major hoops you talk about involve filling out a form online , printing it and mailing it in. You could have done it already in the time you spent on this thread.
