Unreal. To not have to prove you belong here to vote is unbelievable to me. Its common friggin sense.
Me too, but that was not the issue decided. It was whether a state could go further than the federal law in its requirements. The feds do not require proof.
Also, it put a burden on certain groups like naturalized citizens. They would have to go in person to register because it is illegal to copy citizenship papers.
They only struck it down because such a law would have to be federal. Maybe it's time to start pressuring our elected officials to enact Voter ID laws.
So in reality, sanctuary cities are not legal and Unconstitutional because the Feds didn't give the ok.
If you enact a law that favors illegals then it is ok in the eyes of the Fed.
If you enact a law that excludes illegals then it is unconstitutional because only the Fed can make those types of rulings.
So in reality, sanctuary cities are not legal and Unconstitutional because the Feds didn't give the ok.
To connect those dots, you first have to actually have dots. This decision has exactly nothing to do with "sanctuary cities."
This is a narrow ruling based explicitly and solely on the National Voter Registration Act. Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else.
