Some leading women thinkers from the political right gathered recently at the Heritage Foundation to offer a blistering criticism of the mainstream media’s coverage of so-called breadwinner moms. The media — with its triumphal, “You Go Girl!” tone — got the story wrong, they said. And you know what? In some ways, they were right.

But then Cathy Reisenwitz, a libertarian blogger at Reason.com, said it was time that the political right stopped using feminism as a catch-all “straw man” for society’s ills.

It's true, though. I'm a conservative woman, with no children, who works. I love my career, and decided long ago that I wouldn't have children, because I liked to work. And - shock - I believe a parent should stay at home to raise their children. I could care less if it's the man or woman, but a parent should. I've long said that a lot of our country's problems started when women put career before family. Latch key children who had lots of unsupervised time to get into trouble, parents that tried to buy their children's affections, and neighborhoods where nobody knew anyone because parents were too busy or exhausted to know the people that interacted with their children.
And don't start with "but what about the poor women who are single parents"? That's part of it, too. Sometimes keeping the family together isn't what makes you feel good, but it's the best for your children. Unless your spouse is abusing you, keeping the family together should be the priority. And if they ARE abusing you, then you're a moron for having children with an abuser.

If couples decide to have children then THEY should be the ones raising them, not daycare, nannys, au pairs.

Well, the purpose of an au pair is to not be a nanny, it's to expose the foreigner to your country's and state's culture while enriching your kids' exposures to the au pair's customs and such.
here I am thinking conservatives had an issue with welfare moms.. now I find out that their fine with welfare moms, its the working moms we have issues with.

Well, it's a predictable trope because it's true. In the 1990s, liberals were blasting conservatives for their chauvinist attitude about single mothers. In the 2010s, the liberal President makes a speech about the dangers of fatherlessness. And what has been the leading proponent of "nontraditional families" during the intervening years? Feminism. Does "a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle" ring any bells? Now it's "where have all the good men gone?" Sometimes the truth hurts.
