Personally, I don't care what you call them. They were a bad idea in 2001 and 2003, that is the single factor that turned surpluses under Clinton into annual deficits. It was also terrible that Obama allowed himself into being blackmailed by the G.O.P. to renew them.
To all my G.O.P. friends that warn us about how dire the deficit problem is, having the tax-cuts expire is the best way to reduce the deficit. They never accomplished their goal of producing prosperity or jobs.
Do you want to hate the tax cuts now? But to answer your question, they are called Bush Tax Cuts because Bush proposed and signed off on them. Obama opposes most of it, but agreed to extend it temporarily as a compromise with republicans. Do you not know EVEN THAT?
The better question is why are they known as the "Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich", whey 60%+ of the reductions went to lower income tax payers? Usual story though, tell the same lie long enough and the ignorant will start to believe it.
