WHERE THE 'DRY' COUNTIES ARE
States that have the most or highest percentage of "dry" counties, which restrict the sale of alcoholic beverages:

Note: "Dry" means different things in different states, and many dry counties contain "wet" municipalities, where some alcohol sales are allowed. Utah, which has some of the nation's most restrictive alcohol laws, has no dry counties because the state controls alcohol policy. Absolutely it's big government. The GOP pretends to be for small government, but in actuality they are for the complete opposite.
It's true that the current Republican party does not stand for fiscal conservatism and limited federal government like it once did, but they're coming around.
It takes a while for a freight train to come to a stop, but the first step is applying the brakes. The Democrats have removed the brake lever from their side of the train. If you want it to begin to slow, you have only one choice.
Your poll is not clear. Blue laws are enacted by local governments and inspired by Judeo-Christian beliefs. Small governments created these Blue laws, and none that I know of are intrusive. They are, however, restricting. Such as restricting the sale of alcohol on Sundays. Or prohibiting the construction of a bar within 250 feet of a Church. Or the restriction/prohibition of porn shops and strip clubs. Ad infinitum.
"Blue laws" is a misnomer. They are really Judeo-Christian Ordinances created by town or city assemblies. Laws are enacted by the State legislatures or Congress.
The reason those places are dry is because the majority of people that live there want them dry not because of government.
Still big government. The people there call themselves conservative, but are really big government types. You want to talk about nanny state? The government telling adults whether they can or can't drink is a nanny state. Justify that how you want.

has ZILCH to do with "big government" ..ie government spending.....in fact since its a restriction..its actually smaller government
