I would like to see your statistics that growing up on the southside of Chicago means that you will be a hoodlum. I know a lot of people who grew up in various southside neighborhoods (the whole of the southside is not "the hood" BTW in case you are not familiar with Chicago and there are a few affluent neighborhoods and one where a large portion of cops and fire fighters live that is predominately white) and very few of them are hoodlums. One of my husband's cousins is in prison and he knew a couple guys who got into gangs, so maybe 5-6 people total and he knows A LOT of people from the southside. Like most statistics on crime and black people, I would bet that those who commit crimes are a minority. Unfortunately a minority of criminals can make a big impact on people though.
