Why not just turn over the documents? The only reason not to is because there's something to hide. Could be major could be not, but it's something they don't want people to know about, especially during an election year.
And if this was all Bush's fault, they would've handed over the docs a year ago....without being asked.
Shame on Obama and liberals excusing this.
What's funny is all the losers who get there news from liberal media. Most are hearing about this for the first time in detail. If they were smart they'd put two and two together and realize their news sources might as well be State controlled.
Could it be there's confidential information in those documents that would endanger an informant's life? We don't know and I wouldn't trust the Republicans with such material. Remember Valerie Plame?
Eric Holder volunteered to turn over some documents. Daryl (the car thief/arsonist/dick) didn't want the documents, but wanted to hold Eric Holder in contempt for the simple reason to embarrass the President.
They will fail miserably, as the American public feels there are more important issues Congress should be dealing with.
Since this started under the Bush administration, why were no members of the Bush administration called to testify? Answer>This is nothing more than a witch hunt.

Why do they keep bringing up Bush for everything? OBAMA IS PRESIDENT NOW!
Fine, Bush used executive privilege 6 times. Once to protect Bill Clinton's AG Janet Reno for actions under Clinton. 4 times to protect advisers from claims on impropriety but not crimes and once to block if Bush knew that Pat Tilman was killed by friendly fire when they celebrated his life.
None of these are as bad as blocking the investigation of the US government possibly being responsible for the deaths of Mexican Civilians and a US border agent.
Since this started under the Bush administration, why were no members from his administration called to testify? Remember now, Eric Holder inherited it and ended it.
What is the law on 'Executive Privilege' and how did Obama view it's use 'before' He himself invoked it?
One thing executive privilege can’t accomplish for Eric Holder is hiding his Department’s wrongdoing. Richard Nixon got that scolding from the Supreme Court in 1974 in the case named United States v. Nixon.
In that case, the Supreme Court held ..
Quote:
"Neither the doctrine of separation of powers nor the need for confidentiality of high-level communications, without more, can sustain an absolute, unqualified Presidential privilege of immunity from judicial process under all circumstances."
Executive privilege cannot be used to cover up criminal wrongdoing, such as lying to Congress.
In the Nixon case, the subpoenas came from a court, not from Congress. Congress arguably has more power than does a court to get to the bottom of matters involving governmental action.
This administration has not respected congressional oversight powers going back to the New Black Panther dismissal.
Quote:
“Let me say as simply as I can, transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency. I will also hold myself as president to a new standard of openness…But the mere fact that you have the legal power to keep something secret does not mean you should always use it.”
- Senator Barack Obama, 2008
Quote:
“You know, there's been a tendency on the part of this administration to -- to try to hide behind executive privilege every time there's something a little shaky that's taking place. And I think, you know, the administration would be best served by coming clean on this. There doesn't seem to be any national security issues involved with the U.S. attorney question... I think the American people deserve to know what was going on there.”
- Senator Barack Obama, 2008
Quote:
“There may be a situation here in which a serious mistake was made and if that’s the case we will find out and hold someone accountable."

In the past two years, ATF has seized thousands of firearms headed to Mexico.

Cases referred for prosecution under Project Gunrunner.
FY 2006 Cases w/Defendants – 122 Defendants referred for prosecution- 306
FY 2007 Cases w/Defendants – 187 Defendants referred for prosecution- 465

This morning Holder said Bush had nothing to do with this. Was he lying?
You need to keep up-to-date on your DNC talking points. Meanwhile, people are dead. How does it feel to have those priorities, Mellowmike?
