"According to ongoing discussions with Obama aides and associates, if the president wins a second term, he plans to tackle another American war that has so far been successful only in perpetuating more misery: the four decades of The Drug War."

Exclusive: In His Second Term, Obama Will Pivot to the Drug War: Death Race 2012: GQ on Politics: GQ

Hey why not. It worked for him the first time he said he would look at the drug policy. To bad he disappointed many on that issue.

You can't expect him to be able to do everything in one term.

IF this story is true (and there's no indication one way or the other), all I can say is that it's about time.

He did a complete reversal of his position on the medical marijuana in states like CA.

Drug war? How would you declare a victory in that. It is like the war on poverty. There is no definitive goal, nor will it be won.

But the fed thinks California laws on medical marijuana were being violated. Other medical marijuana states are following their own laws better so fed is raiding less in those states.

Why can't Obama do everything in one term? How much effort did it take to tell Homland security to stop deportations? He has circumvented Congress on other issues, why not this one?

How far do you think he will go with it? Will he talk to the Hollywood people to see what their needs are first?

Lindsay Lohan can be the spokesperson for them

This administration has deported more illegals than any other.
And speaking pragmatically, removing the power of the cartels through decriminalization is about the most effective thing you can do to help violable at the border.

I hope this source is correct. The drug war has done more to fuel social unrest and the break-up of families in America than any personal moral failings. It's also been a giant hole for tax dollars both fighting the war, but also the prisons to hold it's victims and welfare to support the families it breaks apart.
