People are characterizing this cartoon of Obama as "racist":

Daily Kos Cartoonist: Obama Racism Charges are 'Squishy Liberals' Being Politically Correct - TheWrap

They say it makes him look like an ape. I'm not so sure I agree. I have seen hundreds of political cartoons with facial and other features greatly exaggerated as a caricature. Bush looked more like an ape in just about every cartoon I saw of him.

No, not sure why it would be considered racist.

Why is he bald? It makes no sense. Cartoons are supposed to exaggerate people's features. He doesn't have buck teeth - this cartoon has no likeness to Obama.

Racist, No
Childish, yes

Usually he's drawn with big ears and very white teeth, what's up with the big upper lip. This cartoon looks more like a dark version of President Ford.

You're right, it doesn't look anything like Obama. I wouldn't say it's racist as much as it shows the artist doesn't have much talent for caricature.

I Googled "Cartoonist Ted Rall" and based on his other cartoons/characters, I don't think he is racist.

It sounds like he is just made at a private site cutting him off for a depiction they don't like and he is intent on stirring up trouble. Seems like not a big deal.

That cartoon isn't racist it doesn't make him look like an ape --- and the cartoon doesn't look like Obama or an ape.

They used to refer to Bush as "The chimp" and they would try to make him look like a chimpanzee. That wasn't racist either.
