he might have been wrong in what he was doing acccording to city ords. but he is also following his 1st Amendment right to be able to peacefully asseble. the city should drop the charges and sentence and tear down the building.
if the city doesnt, then anytime someone has a poker party or a tailgate party before a football game, the same charges should be given to the person doing it.
He's wrong not only according to city ordinances. He's wrong according to the Golden Rule. He's imposing on his neighbors, over and over and over. A good Christian is supposed to love his neighbor. And that means being considerate of them. This guy is wrong.
And the Right to Peacefully Assemble isn't a blanket right. I can't call a meeting of the local witches' coven to be held at YOUR house. Because it's your property. I have to be considerate of YOU. I have to be considerate of the rights of others. My right to peacefully assemble doesn't trump your rights. This pastor's right to peacefully assemble doesn't trump his neighbor's rights. The ordinances are to protect everyone's rights. Religion doesn't make one person's rights more important than another's. They have to all be respected. And this pastor only wants HIS rights to be respected. That's wrong. And it's un-Christian.
I still believe that the guys 1st Amendment rights were violated in this case. I also wonder if the city would have done anything at all if the people doing the meetings would have been muslim instead of christian.

at my property no, but on your own property yes you can, and you can use the public parking on the street as well. I have a huge driveway at my home in town, and have had people use my driveway when parking was full at the bar next door. I also had them towed away at their expense as well.

So, if the witch's coven is 40 people, and I hold a meeting three times a week, and my guests take up ALL the public parking on my street, inconveniencing ALL my neighbors, possibly posing a safety hazard if emergency vehicles needed access, and year after year I kept this up THREE times a WEEK, you think that would be just okey-dokey for my neighbors? If I put up signs in my yard, and declared part of my property tax-free because I was using it for religious purposes--okey-dokey with my neighbors? If I prevented my neighbors from selling their homes, if I drove housing values down---okey-dokey with my neighbors?

I think some people aren't understanding what public parking is for. It is for everybody. If one neighbor is filling a public parking lot 3 days a week it's too much. Especially if the parking is for a neighborhood park and not his church. The intended use of the parking spaces has to be taken into consideration.
What I find especially scary is that this guy has 70 followers. People really are stupid. Sorry, but we all know that is true.

No, after reading about this guy I find it scary that he has followers. I think he's just a bad guy that shouldn't be trusted. People are dumb as sheep.

I think we both independently checked the county records. I might not have posted the info first.
What kind of tax break do you imagine this guy is getting for having a Bible study in his own home? Your hatred of Christians is sad.
Considering he hasn't paid ANY property tax since 2008, I would say that is a pretty nice tax break. Maricopa County Parcel Inquiry
