They already are going to go forward with sales tax on the net here soon. Are you suggesting a basic tax paid to your ISP and sent on to uncle sam to be allowed onto the net in the first place? I could see that coming.

Old news.

Once Considered Unthinkable, U.S. Sales Tax Gets Fresh Look

They won't bring it up again before the election, but if you have any doubt whatsoever that our congresscritters aren't constantly trying to figure out a way to get it passed, you're either naive, delusional or stupid.

Gay marriage is not popular, Obama-care is not popular, toss out welfare reform is not popular, but Obama did it and does not care what is popular.

He will do what he wants and our Congress is just sitting there looking for their dime. But think about it, they get a massive influx of cash with a VAT tax and that is what they want. Plus, they will say "Oh, we will do away with the income tax sometime in the future....

We better hope a VAT is never instituted here. An English friend of mine just pointed out theirs was recently increased from 17% to 21%. That is a roughly 23% jump. Sort of like the U.S. income tax, where the top nominal rate for income of $20,000 and below was 1% at its passage in 1913.

Again, this is speculation on your part. I have never heard this from the President or an advisor. A vat tax is regressive and would hurt the poor and middle class voters disproportionantly. That would be inconsistant with prior Obama policies.

All I can say is if the city boys from Chicago now DC push a mileage tax on us, I'll join the folks storming the Bastille. That goes for you too, Republicans on Capitol Hill.

Feds arn't pushing for an internet tax. It's the states. Individual states. Get it? The foundation of the conservative republican party.....states rights.......

So how does Obama figure into this?

I've never heard of a federal sales tax on the net. Where can I find out more?

So what? Do you think people in government actually care if someone gets hurt by taxes? Look at your phone bill, utility bill...see anything taxes there? We had a telephone tax for over 100 years to pay for the Spanish American War....

I am looking at how Obama acts..He loves the EU...big government...massive taxes...and the VAT is a huge thing over there....we don't have it...who is going to stop Obama? Congress? Yeah..there is a group of people that will turn down new money....
