My family shops like crazy when they come to visit me. They like to buy lots of cheese here too because it is super expensive in Canada. They live in Montreal.

I've lived in Canada on and off since 2005 and the cost of living there is crazy! Especially the cost of food.... And clothes.

My husband used to work for a company whose headquarters were in Canada (he left them shortly after they bought the company he worked for because he couldn't stand their way of doing business - and they've nearly ruined the company they bought, but I digress). Since he was in upper management, we often entertained visiting Canadians. Without exception, they were shocked at how inexpensive everything was around here. And they had absolute HORROR stories about real estate and utility prices in Canada. But it was everything - clothing, electronics, food, etc. They went on buying frenzies when they were here.

When they bought the company (an oilfield services company) they got rid of the red trucks and equipment with the profile of the Statue of Liberty on the side, and repainted them MAUVE with a maple leaf on them. Yes, pink oilfield services vehicles.

Just one of many missteps that have proven to be quite expensive to them. Meanwhile, my husband left the company in disgust, and went into (very successful) business for himself.

Nobody said it was just income; it's net worth. And Canadians have more net worth than Americans do. They have lower infant mortality; better access to health care; lower incidence of loan default; and more socioeconomic mobility. Every which way you want to slice it, Canada is now numero uno, economically speaking, in the Western Hemisphere in terms of its standard of living. But America does at least have a kick ass military...

Well it stands to reason that it would eventually happen.
We have 60% of Americans dependent on the Government for some financial payment.

LOL..when we were ahead of Canada there were no excuses. Now that we're not it's "but...."

And that situation exists because of whom? And why? Who benefits from this and who suffers from it? Can it be stopped? Of course, and very simply done without ever building a wall and that is "Hire an illegal--go to jail" period. Thus another reason Canadians standard of living has risen.

Oh but wait a minute, I thought Canada was the socialist empire that America dare not emulate? Now which is it? You keep speaking out of both sides of your mouth. Typical, typical, typical of the idiotic conservative mindset. If at first the facts prove you completely 100 percent wrong, just start pulling random excuses or qualifiers or negatives that can't be proven out of your rectum. Seriously, it's a juvenile act. Juvenile.

Ummm its a fact and along with that fact 26billion dollars left the use yes left our hurt economy and went primarily to Mexico and other countries...

Illegals have bankrupt hospitals etc...

The children of illegal aliens (anchor babies) have bankrupted the state of California

According to county records, during a typical month, close to 15,000 offspring of illegal aliens received either welfare payments or food stamps in 2009. Over 11,000 of those children received both forms of assistance.
