Someone please explain why this makes sense.
In the USA...
an 18 year old can legally buy an AR 15 assault rifle (like was used in last night's Denver area massacre) but a 20 year can not legally buy a beer.

Mixing alcohol and firearms is typically a criminal offense if caught. Just FYI.
As for government policies making sense- they don't. 18 year olds can smoke, buy guns, and join the military, 16 year olds can drive, but somehow drinking isn't okay til you're 21. I'd prefer it if 18 year olds could smoke, buy guns, join the military, and drink as long as it was made clear to them that the consequences of their actions are their responsibility and theirs alone.
An AR15 is NOT an assault rifle. It's simply a semi-auto rifle made to LOOK like a military assault rifle. There should be mental health screenings for all the idiots posting about things they know nothing about.
