the gas can gig is better for non-druggies/non-homeless cuz you don't have to dress down and wear dirty clothes to do it. you can just pretend to be a dumb college student trying to get home to your family for a bday party of something and you left you CC or something
will get cash from at least 25% w this type of story and it will be $5's and ****, not change
Before everyone decides to enter this line of work, remember he is probably mentally ill and grossly exaggerated his earnings. Why not? Can anyone disprove him?
We have a family here in Ocala that panhandles every day at the corner of 60th Ave & Hwy 200. They have a new Ford F150 Harley Davidson pickup ($60K) parked in the Walgreen's parking lot at the corner. They got outed on Craigslist and now they're sporting different haircuts and tattered Goodwill clothes. Yesterday it was raining and they were out there with rain slickers on. I guess we were supposed to feel sorry for them begging in the rain.
Other corners here have fights as certain people have laid claim to them and if another panhandler tries to horn in, they duke it out.
I was driving home from work today and saw a panhandler near a very busy intersection. Freeway off ramps and streets mixed in. Dude stopped to give him some money and almost caused a pile-up.
I carry little sample bottles of spirits to hand out to the homeless panhandlers when they ask for change. You should see their eyes light up and the smiles they give. Its really quite heartwarming.
As a sponsor of the local interfaith community center I carry cards with me, hand them out and tell them where to get a meal, bed and clothes.
I regularly buy people food that looked like they wouldn't last much longer without something to eat. I also carry coats and gloves in my work truck to hand out during winter when I see someone in desperate need.
I never give out money. Its better spent through charities.
