This was stated on 20/20 the other night by Diane Sawyer. Yes, she who works for ABC did reiterate those exact words...that African Americans are 8 times more likely to risk their life saving another person than a white person would. What is ABC trying to accomplish here? To create racial division? One thing I noticed, ABC is basing their information 'According to aUnpublished Study'. The person quoted by USA Today in the link I posted below was Dr. Philip Zimbardo from the same organization where 20/20 got their statistic. So the question is.................do you believe this to be true, that blacks are 8 times more heroic than whites?

I don't much care for unpublished studies as little can be given in terms of empirical review or the standard scientific criticism that comes with normal, published studies.
His conclusions could be accurate or inaccurate but without empirical review and a published paper, it's just one man's conjecture at this point.
Zimbardo, however, is a world-renowned professor, most noted for his Stanford Prison Experiment in the 1960's. That too can be looked at as an insightful but perhaps flawed experiment as well and should be looked at skeptically.
Whatever the truth, at this point, it's mere conjecture without any review and I would take it as seriously as I would anything that hasn't been properly vetted through the appropriate scientific method.

I am so glad to see that 20/20 and Dr. Zimbardo found something to spend their high paid salaries studying! Come on! How could they have possibly missed doing a study on "The Life Expectancy of A Sugar Cube", or "Why Does Gum Lose Its Flavor while you Are Chewing"...Better yet..."Is Peanut Butter Addicting". UNREAL. Who cares which race is more heroic as long as the deed gets done?? Who thinks in the split second..."Oh, I am white so I won't go save that person drowning"...GEESH..dumb study, sorry!!
In my experience, blacks are more understanding and respectful of others feelings than whites. They can have a preconceived notion and then when a different perspective is explained, they tend to respect it.
I am guessing part of the reason for any statistical difference is blacks are more likely to be in a situation where "heroism" as defined by the study is needd.
