Besides, I hadn't heard that black people were claiming him as solely theirs. Last time I checked, he was President of the whole country.

He didn't choose his "black side". He grew up in a racially divided America and felt more comfortable associating himself with blacks rather than whites during his youth because he had dark skin and went through a biracial identity crises, partially caused by insensitive white America.

Black people dont claim him as much as he claims blackness. But realistically look at the man, if he was walking down the road you would not question his race for a second. He looks like a black guy. No biggie, you are what you is.
That aside an aweful lot of white folks like him too. I'm not one but that doesn't matter, What matters is not race but popularity.
