People around the world have different views. Just yesterday I got into an argument with some people I know in Brazil over a comment that was posted on Facebook under a picture of a black person. The poster said he didn't like black people and thought they were gross (poster was a Hispanic male). To me, one can have whatever opinion on whatever they want, I don't have a problem with opinions. (I do have a problem with those who put racism in practice). I have a problem with the content of the message but not the ability to express it. The group thinks the man should be thrown in jail for his comments and to me that boggles the mind.
There is a line between respect and freedom of speech but said line differs from person to person. To me her comment was not offensive. I associate West Nile with the West Nile virus but the person next to me may not.
Not to mention that more often than not, the race/ethnicity of the messenger plays a huge part in whether he/she will receive any sort of backlash.
One of my favorite comedians is Russell Peters and he makes jokes about all kinds of races/ethnicities/nationalities but he gets away with it. Why? Because he is brown. Now try having a Sweddish with blond hair and blue eyes tell the same jokes and see what happens
This is unpossible. Only the USA is racist. Europe is just light-years ahead of us on the topic.
Seriously though, we address racism, they shove it under the rug. Funny how much anti-semitism out of Europe is excused as really just being criticism of Israel. LMAO....riiiiiiight.
Well London doesn't have freedom of speech so I guess it's fair game. I just wish they were consistent about what is deemed offensive.
Honestly though what nonsensical drivel from the Left.
Quote:
The Democratic Left said that "this racist humor and 'jokes' that affect human lives are not tolerated by Greek society, (and) they cannot flourish in Greek athletics."
The socialist PASOK party said "matters that are to do with the human status should not be treated lightly by anyone and especially from the members of the sports community, who are symbols to young people."
Although her comments were classless, she shouldn't have been excused from the games.
The Greek people have had 3rd world immigration imposed on them by EU bureaucrats, not the consent of the common man. Expect more xenophobia as the culture and national identity takes a 3rd world twist and immigrants continue to flood their country and consume resources the Greeks themselves find increasingly scarce.
Then again, European countries have no right to self-determination, so they should just take their demographic revolutions in stride.
Its her opinion and she should be entitled to it. She is also a supporter of Golden Dawn so she is a ok in my book. To bad they have politically correct wimps running things in Greece. Hold your head up high young woman.
