What's your point in bringing up the issue? Clearly the issue ISN'T just the name. Say what you have to say.

If you're lucky perhaps you'll make contact with reality by the time you reach retirement age.
Are you so inept that you cannot keep/save/invest that which you earn for your own retirement instead of the government taking it from you to support the prior generation? From the moment an individual enters the workforce he/she becomes an indentured servant to the previous generation to pay for their retirement. They see no releif until those younger are also subjugated into intentured servitude via forced SS contributions as well.

SS is a ponzi scheme.

Mooching?? I've paid into social security for 40 years and am still paying into it without having collected a nickel so far.

You people show your stupidity daily. Please, keep it up.

For the record, I think it WOULD go over very well. The people can be reminded of how, much like the PPACA (Obamacare,) social security was originally sold to the American public as a "safety net." Many people argued against it (one Senator famously asking, "Isn't this a teeny bit of socialism?") When people look & see how much the program has changed, and not for the better of most Americans, they might finally understand how a seemingly well intentioned program can grow into a monstrous, cumbersome, unmanagable money pit.

Your republican buddies seem to think you are a moocher for receiving FDRCare. It is your party, you can cry if you want to.

If at age 60+ you're still "looking for work" then you've done something really HORRIBLE with your life! Besides all that, if you are unemployed at age 60+, your SS amount will be practically nothing anyway! It goes by how much money you've made and put into the SS system.

Way to twist the sentiment.

The dislike isn't aimed at the people who paid into it all their lives and are now collecting. The problem is that we are forced to pay into it in the first place, when many of us feel we could do better ourselves. We dislike the government taking our money so that they can then dole out an allowance.

Yes, you could have possibly decided not to get cancer, which wiped out all of your savings. What were you thinking?

You said you do not like FDRCare. You want to get rid of it right? If we stop paying into it, that is exactly what happens. Well there are a lot of your Republican buddies who like it just fine, which is exactly why I think you should use that in your republican platform. Call your Republican congressman and tell them to get right on that. Please.
