New Attorney For Jerome Ersland Working To Overturn Conviction - NewsOn6.com - Tulsa, OK - News, Weather, Video and Sports - KOTV.com |

I hope he gets a new and FAIR trial. No way in hell he should have been convicted of murder.

I think this was talked about ad nauseum on the board. If I remember correctly, the concensus was that this guy was guilty of murder. The linchpen was the fact that he went and reloaded and then unloaded into a person who was in no position to cause him harm. I do not believe he will get a retrial, nor do I believe the jury got it wrong.

Unfortunately, it was murder if the guy was no harm at the point the weapon was fired. No complaints here though as another piece of garbage was disposed of. Can't argue that the murderer didn't make the world a little safer for everyone. Also consider... This event would have never taken place had the original criminal obeyed the law in the first place.

I can't disagree with any of this. However, the law is fairly clear on this case.

Law should be changed to state a person may defend ones self until he feels the perp is no longer a threat to him. Just because someone is laying on the ground doesn't make them any less of a danger.
