Seems like a law looking for a crime based on the small or non-existent percentage of voter fraud.

"Lawmakers proposed 62 photo-ID bills in 37 states in the 2011 and 2012 sessions, with multiple bills introduced in some states, including two by Democrats in Rhode Island. Ten states have passed strict photo-ID laws since 2008, though several face legal challenges.
A News21 analysis found that more than half of the 62 bills were sponsored by members or conference attendees of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a Washington-based, tax-exempt organization."

Many states' voter-ID laws, including Pennsylvania's, appear to have tie to same U.S. group

you lose all creditibility whne you say small or non-existant percentage

as soon as one person votes saying they are someone they are not...its voter fraud

as soon as someone votes in for a district they dont reside in...its voter fraud

with Identification theft happening evry hour or every day..its is a big thing

sometimes elections come down to only a few votes...any and all voter fraud must be at least tried to be stopped..this is a step

we NEED a national id, and it to be required for all

When you look at the amount of fraud it is close to being non-existent, why the sudden focus by wing groups like ALEC in the last few years without any proof. Seems like the sole purpose was to exclude low income and minorities. The statement by Mike Turzai of the PA legislatures statement that "this will get Romney elected" indicates the reasoning for voter ID's.

Why after all these years the sudden need, is there any factual evidence that points to rampant fraud, surely if it's that rampant they have the facts to back it up. Some republicans in Florida serving on the board of elections didn't even know there was a problem.

You need to be identified to vote. We don't need the dead, neighbors of people on vacation, people in prison or anyone else voting.

What do you mean by "neighbors of people on vacation"? How could they vote in place of their neighbors, who may have turned in an absentee ballot before they went on vacay? Why shouldn't "anyone else" (which seems to include most US citizens) vote?

and there lays the point

ok WCH lives a few blocks away from Kat..he KNOWS she is on vacation...he DOESNT KNOW she did an absentee ballot..he goes down and says he is kat..he then votes as kat...the absentee vote was for candy(a)..the in person vote was for candy(b)

kat now has TWO votes....and both will NEGATE each other..since there is NOWAY of knowing which is which...she may have HERSELF voted both times..no-one can prove either way

this is WHY we NEED to be able to PROVE not only WHO WE ARE, but also WHERE WE RESIDE, this is a representitive government after all

Have the voting on state or federal property and everyone will have to have an id.

If I had ALREADY received the absentee ballot, my neighbor wouldn't be able to vote as me. In fact, even if I'd just requested it, and not yet received it, no one would be able to impersonate me.

FALSE

the FACT that you send one in or requested on is NOT listed in the "inperson" voter book...it wouldnt be till AFTER THE FACT that they would see two votes from you..then both will be negated....but if ID was required , it wouldnt happen

the real question here is why would you want the millions of con artists out there to even have a chance of stealing YOUR VOTE????????? are you ok with someone stealing/or negating your vote????
