thats a lot of trees to tar?? wonder how it will affect the trees in the long run.. right now this planet is one big petri dish..

West Coast Falling ( Canadian style) - YouTube
good view from up there though for heli-logging but it is one of the most dangerous jobs around but where does envryone think wood for homes, furniture and wood pulp for paper and cardboard come from since not all of it is recycled and it had to start out as a tree at some sme point.

anyways enjoy the viewof B.C. from up a Giant tree.

Yup, the US has everything alright, including a failing economy, unemployment, massive debt, and huge numbers of people incarcerated, among other ailments.....Obviously you haven't traveled in Canada, one of the worlds most beautiful countries, with an active caring diverse people, a healthy economy, and health care for all, or is it just envy you are expressing. If you are not envious now you will be as the climate continues to heat up....

Strange isn't it that I see no US cities mentioned below...

It is not the hot weather that makes the infestation worse, but the fact that the winters have not been getting cold enough recently to kill the little suckers...

yeah and it never gets below -40 and stays there for 6-8 weeks straight sdo not sure how this is climate change when a beetle not native to B.C. or North America is the cause of it all.

I mean the beetle does this in other parts of the world but has natural predators that stop it from spreading and it being a invasinve species it has nothing in nature in B.C. that would be able to stop it by feeding on the beetles to keep the population under control and in check.

Another big issue is that in the normal course of events there would not be the number of really old trees as there is in these forests. Naturally forest fires control the forest and keep the average age of the trees much younger. These younger trees have a much better immune system and have resisted the effects of the beetle and normally did not die from the infestation. Because the bugs thrive in these old trees they are able because of their increased numbers to adversly effect and even kill the younger trees also.

Yeah, it's a shame we're stuck with Democrats. Maybe we could ship some to the Great White North.

Only two percent of Canadians may not believe climate change is real but amongst their numbers are Prime Minister Steven Harper and the executives of of companies like Syncrude Canada and PetroCanada!
They are the ones making Dominion policy not the rest of Canada. Harper recently zeroed out most of the funding Enviroment Canada got for Climate research in the Arctic and closed Canada's northernmost base where this work is done. Actions speak louder than words don't they, eh
