Not so sure what is brutal about the top left one, bottom one has no context. The top right one is only one that is questionable and could possibly be cherry picked frame.
Having said that sports taining is usually brutal and I could certainly have been the subject of such photos for wrestling. Just as one example a common exercise for wrestling is to arch between you feet and the top of your head and roll your head back until your nose touches the mat. Probably look very painful to someone that didn't do it for months on end but was no big deal.
