GOP convention could be canceled due to hurricane.
" On Wednesday morning, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn raised the prospect that the GOP convention,
scheduled to run from Monday to Thursday, might have to be canceled. "
There are outdoor tents that were setup several days ago for the RNC. they are long and connect 2 buildings and have AC within the tent. Not sure what they are going to do with these tents due to the high winds that might be present, even if the storm is not a direct hit.
They also installed temporary banners and such. Those are not going to fare well in high winds.
Folks that are supposed to attend the RNC must be massively confused. Do they travel to Tampa knowing that a hurricane or TS is heading that way. Typically someone would cancel a trip. But this is different.
Folks are probably scheduled to be coming into town starting now and through the next few days. There are many already in town that have been doing setup and preparation and more coming each day.
ABC meteorologist Max Golembo says Hurricane Isaac will hit Florida and could make a direct hit on Tampa,
flooding the city like Katrina flooded New Orleans in 2005.
