You really think there are parallels between "offending" the Crown and this?
We were never carefully politically correct when it came to insulting Nazis, why would it be different with Muslims? And Muslims were with the Nazis in WWII -- for the obvious reasons.

Christians also worked with the Nazis - so did the Japanese. What is your point?
I have not seen the moive, but I did watch the 13-minute trailer. It is not pornographic, but I can see how it can be construed as offensive to devout Muslims. Just as offensive as say putting a crucifix into a jar or urine, or depicting the "Virgin Mary" with elephant dung and a collaged pornographic images. Even the artist described his own work as "sick" and I tend to agree.
I do not pretend to know the motivation or intention of the writter of this movie, and I will not hazard a guess. However, you are mistaken about it being released two days ago. The 13-minute trailer has been on YouTube since July, and it is still there despite Obama's irrational demands. The attacks on US embassies in the middle-east had nothing to do with the movie. These were coordinated attacks, planned well in advance. The movie is simply the pretext Obama is using as an excuse for not taking action to secure our embassies when he knew in advance that they would be attacked.
The English version has been on Youtube since July.
The Arabic version was posted two days before 9/11.
And they were wrong. Your religion deserves equal respect. Actually all religions or even non-religions do. I think more companies need to go to a system where you get to pick your own 9 or 10 holidays a year. That would help solve that inequality.
Hehe...pretty, but I'm not really into decorating my cube. It's fine with me if others do it as long as it's not intrusive (no obnoxious noise-making robots or pulsing strobes or anything like that), but I don't like being pressured to decorate mine...especially for a holiday I don't celebrate!
Who are the 28% that think the First Amendment doesn't matter?

I would not be so quick to label that particular 28 percent as anyone who claims to be liberal. Speaking for myself, I value the freedom of speech over censorship, even if that free speech offends a particular group. And yes, I consider myself to be more liberal.
However, its my opinion that we can both respect our first amendment and also use common sense. Yes, we are and should be allowed to express ourselves freely. But people need to realize that freedom comes with responsibility. One of those responsibilities is not throwing a rock into a hornets nest. I think most would agree with that. But if someone does, for whatever reason, throw that rock, then we have to realize that excersizing our freedom of speech to the point of purposefully getting a reaction will do just that, get a reaction. Sometimes that reaction is going to be violent. No one should be surpised. Appauled? Yes! To murder innocent people for retaliation is abhorent.
I'm only saying that respecting the freedom of speech is something that most everyone values, liberal or conservative or moderate. More importantly though is understanding that negative actions, even though we are free to do them, will have potential negative reactions. Think before speaking.
That being said, I'm all for "Freedom of Speech". Just not "Freedom from consequences of said speech".
Yes!
