Not everyone works daytime hours. Some people are retired. Some people own businesses and work their own hours. Your comment is uncalled for.

Why would anyone work if they know they can sit around on their big butts and collect from the government? This man is creating a big, bloated crybaby out of the people. Nothing he has created is SUSTAINABLE except his lack of knowledge on how to run a country. Why work? I don't want to work either, I'm tired...but I guess that's why they call it WORK, because it isn't EASY!!!! For the love of GOD, let's vote this pretender OUT!
Who will you vote for the Mormon or the Muslim?

What we seem to be doing is providing fatal incentives to people if they don't work. Fatal in that many of these people will not go out looking for work because they will be cut off from benefits.
Creating more programs and more loopholes so that people can get more "free" financial help is not going to get them off the dole.

Just look at how many social entitlement programs we have and what we provide them and it's still not enough.

But we've already had ONE Liberal claim: "The work requirement was NOT suspended. It still exists for the entire country. Clinton created this requirement."

LOL.....so you are now admitting that he DID gut the requirement? I guess that's SOME progress!
Then there's the bolded section....You now admit that it does allow States to waive the requirement.Funny, but Clinton and the writers of the legislation SPECIFICALLY wrote it that way so NO ONE could waive the requirement.Obama ILLEGALLY did that though and Liberals don't care. Then you say correlation isn't causation?

Who's to BLAME for this being necessary in the first place if it's not Obama?

Blame BUSH again?
They were first waived in 2008 so, yes, you can blame Bush.
Also, the ability for states to apply for work waivers was part of the law signed by Clinton this change after the 2008 blanket waiver allowed states to do so without going through the application process. Cantor is being incredibly disingenuous with his analysis.

The HHS memo only came out July 2012.

Default Another desperation post from the Right

These posts don't even pacify those on the Right while Romney's campaign is in a FREE FALL.

Republicans are in no position to criticize any President on issues involving the poor.

You're right, nobody knows how to produce poor folks like Obama. I saw just the other day that the Rich-Poor gap had widened the most since 1967 with incomes plunging.

Serious question, isn't obama just trying to give states the flexibility to tackle welfare differently? Isn't this what republicans want, is to give states more flexibility?

Why do we go out of our way to make living in poverty so easy ?

Correct. However, the original law allowed states to apply for waivers if they met certain unemployment rate conditions. The July memo was to allow States to automatically apply if they chose by notifying the feds.

The doubling of ABWDA enrolled in SNAP came from 2008-2010 and OP is falsely trying to connect that to the HHS memo. It's fine to disagree, but not cool to lie.
