What does your ranting have to do with my post? Oh nothing. Apparently you just started this thread to rant away and silly old me though you were being serious. Enjoy.

What did you post have to do with the topic? The tread is about the failure of conservative predictions that said allowing gays to serve in the military would have dire effects on things like retention, recruitment, readiness, sexual assaults, lack of order (lasciviousness in particular), etc - not about some "PC" world in which anti-gay bigots are fearful of flaunting their ignorance and disdain.
I read LuckyGem's post as a ham-fisted way of supporting the OP. Repealing DODT was a big deal - gays serving in the military is not such a big deal. Why? Because gays have always served in the military. That was a major aspect of the argument to repeal DODT. I don't think anyone here is saying "gays have always served in the military so why bother repealing DODT" I think they're saying "gays have always served in the military so that's why repealing DODT didn't make the military implode as predicted by some right-wingnuts.
This.
They've always been in the military. Nothing you can say is going to change that fact.
As far as the repeal, I'm conservative and didn't not expect some implosion to occur as a result of allowing gays to openly serve since they were already serving.
I served with gay guys back in the day ('Nam) and everybody knew who was what. One of the gays was a small guy that was one of the most efficient killers I have ever known. Sexual preference has nothing to do with courage and skill.

Yep but apparently some thought it would and are now braying that it didn't for some reason. Anyone who has served has known there were also gays serving. Small minority but they were there. Has there been a huge uptick in those coming out of the closet? I haven't seen any. Perhaps our post starter has some data?

You're a liar! There were NO GAYS in the military prior to last year.
But I do wonder how much more the radical Muslims will love the USA with gays in our military? They hate gays.....you know that right?
That said...I don't care if gays get married, serve their country.....I would support them 100%. But please, stop tying the hands of our military, both gay and straight and turn them loose on the radical bastages...please.
Many like myself are not against gays serving openly as there have always been gays. I was and am more concerned about privacy issues and potential problems associated with the lack of privacy onboard ships for example.
You come out of the shower and a known gay person is standing there. He just came off mid watch and has a mean case of the stares. Not due to sexual attraction just in a zone. I can see him taking a beat down.
Any who have read my posts about gay people know where I stand. This isnt about gays are bad people. It is about the reality of no privacy and a stressful enviroment. 24 hour days are not uncommon out to sea. Fights happen over much smaller issues.
I myself am happy to see the transition is going as smoothly as it is.
Gays serving openly in the military certainly makes it easier for everyone to know who's gay and who isn't.
That's certainly true. Did you know that opening your eyes makes it easier to walk without running into things?
