The reason there is suspicion is because 114K new jobs were reported to have been added, yet 873K people found work. The numbers don't add up. There's an allegation that the government did a survey of about 50,000 private homes, which they've not done before, and extrapolated that number out. I personally would like to know the truth on how they arrived at it. I'd like to hear why some are saying the unemployment is at 11% and the government says it's at 7.8% If it's really 7.8%, hooray!! If it's not and that's the number Obama needed to get re-elected, I hope that comes out.

About 600,000 people lost jobs last month. But 600,000 people found jobs. Then an additional 114,000 new jobs were created, and another 60,000 or so part time jobs, and another 10,000 people a week retired.

Thats how.

What wasn't headlines were the 500K+ part time jobs created. That's what really lowered the UE number.

Once upon a time, a certain member of Congress asked, 'Where are the jobs, Mr. President?'

At that time, the UE rate was 6.2%.

The month in question was August of 2003.

The President was George W. Bush.

That member of Congress was Nancy Pelosi!!!!!

Haven't heard a peep out of her about that rate--cooked, baked, stewed, broiled or otherwise.

More lefty-style hypocrisy, wouldn't you say?

GDP being low is a fine arguement. Concentrate on that.

This is something that continues to annoy me. The self righteousness. EVERYTHING is unprecedented, and EVERYTHING is outrageous. They just can't fathom that Obama is acting like a politician. The administration is choosing to bring up one of the common measurements of unemployment that existed long before he came into office. That kind of thing is nothing new. They paint themselves in the best light, and I guarantee you if Romney wins, we won't hear about "REAL" unemployment anymore...

My completely unfounded theory is that former four term Rep. Hilda Solis (D), who is now the Secretary of Labor, figured "what the hell," her job is on the line, and this was her last shot at getting the president a bump in jobs. She probably colluded with some libs in the BLS, and they all know that if this fraudulent job numbers crap works, and 0bama is reelected, they are home free. If their scheme fails, a president Romney has bigger things on his plate, then to waste his political capital to go after these BLS employees.

I love the national average. It's nearly 20% here.

They didn't cook the books, it's far more sinister then that.

They set up Obamacare so that employers, to keep pace with business, will have to lower hours and hire more part-timers so that they can stay in business.

They're counting on businesses who can't pay full benefits to lower hours and hire more people who work less hours per week.

They'll then turn around and claim victory because you see the UE rate dropping. They think you're too stupid to figure out that the jobs being "created" are the same jobs they moaned and whined about for nearly three decades before they got in power.

That wouldn't be so bad except that they've over leveraged SS with a payroll tax and overburdened the US economy with $6 trillion in debt. If they have their way it'll be we'll over $10 trillion.

Take note that they also railed against public debt for the past 30 years too.
