ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia Rep. Paul Broun said in videotaped remarks that evolution, embryology and the Big Bang theory are “lies straight from the pit of hell” meant to convince people that they do not need a savior.

The Republican lawmaker made those comments during a speech Sept. 27 at a sportsman’s banquet at Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell. Broun, a medical doctor, is running for re-election in November unopposed by Democrats.

Somehow government representatives got into the TelePod machine from the movie "TheFly" with Bible Thumpers and this is what we get.

Fun fact: Rep. Broun has been married 4 times. Wonder what the Bible has to say about that?

But he represents the average Republican's views on religion and evolution.

How do these people get elected?? Little wonder Washington is such a mess.

Is this view really representative of the people in Georgia?

Even worse, if you realize that this idiot sits on the Congressional Science, Space, and Technology Committee AND that he is an M.D.:

Congress.org – Get informed, get involved

You can find him about half-way down, under Republicans...

Alas, I doubt that this moron represents the average Georgian's view. Certainly, there are some small groups of people out there who do believe along his lines, those who also think that you can't get pregnant from "legitimate" rape, and all that jazz... But most people are a bit more enlightened than this...

Yet, he is just one more Republican in a long list who are simply completely out to lunch and who really have no business governing this nation.

Do you see this, Republicans? THESE are the people who make your party seem like a collection of absolute nutters. These are the people who damage the reputation of the GOP beyond salvation.

Gotta be the case. Can't believe that the majority of Georgians would be that backwards.
