I wonder about the 1000 to 2000 people that live in Slab City, California. Since it has no real streets and no real addresses as well as no electricty, water, sewer or anything else, how will these people be able to register and vote in the upcoming election? It would seem to me that if you live in "the last free place in America" you should have the freedom to vote in November too.

Default Can They VOTE?

Probably.

California's state legislture isn't under republican control, so they haven't been practicing voter suppression like the GOP controlled states have made such a high priority this year.

Hate to tell you OP but it's not free. Those "slabs" are property owned by others.

Lots of ways for the Homeless to register.

According to the article it is public state owned land. So that means all of us including the people who live there own it. But the issue is how will these people be able to register and vote since they have no real (legal) addresses?

That means you made $96,000 a year. If you make that, your taxes should be about 15% Federal plus your 6% Social Security and 3% Medicare for a total Federal take of about 24% total. Not anywhere near 50%

Uh you need to educate yourself on property rights and government ownership. If its public property its not owned by anyone but the state. Again use google. There are many ways to register without having a place of residence.

Nothing to do with either party.

Do you seriously believe that all those folks who are fulltime RV'ers decided on that lifestyle, all being content to just give up their vote?

There are various organizations like Escapee's or Good Sam clubs that operate mail forwarding services that avail the RV'er of a permanent address but forward their mail to wherever they may be parked at the time. One large center for that is based in Livingston, Texas.

Slab city is just one of the last "free" areas. Even Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands have hoards of RV's parked on their lands and I would submit to you the greater proportion of them vote.

In California, you don't have to be a citizen to vote, nor do you have to be a legal resident of the USA.

Why wouldn't they be able to vote? There is no attempt to eliminate fraud in our elections. No voter ID is required, no proof of identiy has to be produced. Any states that attempted to eliminate fraud in the election got shot down. And California certainly wasn't one of the states that tried to stop any of the fraud.

Well who the hell owns the state? The residents of the state of which the people that live there are among them. They still pay taxes even if the slab is free. They but food, propane, toothpaste, shoes and such and they pay taxes.
