Like I said earlier: Just because you're told the uniformed man guarding the cabin in which you're being imprisoned on a remote ranch is a sheriff, doesn't mean he's a sheriff.

Now this makes more sense.
If he were falsely imprisoned, then there's a whole lot wrong with it.

Let me tell you. If you are off on a retreat and they find you are stealing corprate information/secrets, they can hold you to remove you I am sure.
They are lucky if that is what happened that they did not go right to jail.

Was he falsely imprisoned or was there cause to remove him from the area?

No, they can't. If my employer ever held me under guard anywhere against my will, I'd sue the living hell out of them (after I'd called the cops and reported them for false imprisonment).

If they prove they kidnapped the guy I hope somebody goes to jail. It seems like a criminal matter as opposed to a civil matter but I don't know all the details.

If this is/was a 'CRIME' - why isn't it being treated like a crime??? (A law suit vs law enforcement involved?)

Possibly, (read POSSIBLY) Martensen voluntarily showed up, maybe got irate because of the inquiry, and so he was then safe-guarded and 'escorted' back to civilization..... and so Martensen is in C-Y-A mode.

Here's the story as best I can tell (I'm piecing it together from about 4 articles) -- most of it is from the employee who filed this lawsuit.

Kirby Martenson was an executive at Mr. Koch's company. Apparently somebody sent an anonymous letter to the company claiming that Martenson was planning to defraud the company and steer company business elsewhere. The company started investigating this, part of which was reading all his emails. In the emails the company read Martenson was communicating with people expressing concern that the company was illegally sheltering $200,000,000 per year to avoid paying taxes. (Martenson denies he was involved in any fraud and claims he is being railroaded for questioning the legality of the company's profit hiding).

According to Martenson, after reading these emails the company flew him out to Aspen under false pretenses, telling him it was to attend a retreat. Martenson was picked up from the airport by Mr. Koch, given a helicopter tour of the ranch, shown a tour of Mr Koch's replica 50 building Old West town, etc. After the fun, Martneson was told he had a performance review meeting with a compensation specialist. The meeting turned out to be an interrogation about his alleged fraud. At the conclusion of the interrogation, Martenson was fired and served with a lawsuit.

At this point, he was taken to a cabin and held under guard (apparently by both company representatives and what he was told was a local sheriff), unable to leave, for several hours. Eventually he was removed to an SUV and told he was being taken to an airport. Martenson asked to be driven back to Aspen or to be able to arrange transportation back to Aspen (this ranch is remote - no cell service) since he had a flight booked from Aspen the next day. His requests were ignored, and he was instead transported to a small airport in Denver. Upon arriving in Denver at 2 am, he was ordered by a company representative (who was armed according to Martenson) to get on a plane, which then flew him to Oakland. Upon arriving in Oakland he was told they were taking him to a nearby Marriott for more meetings. At this point he flatly refused and got the attention of an airport employee to call him a cab to take him home to San Fransisco.

Martenson's lawsuit claims he was falsely imprisoned and held against his will from the time he was confined to a cabin until he deplaned in Oakland.

Colorado Kidnapping/Abduction Laws
Colorado laws classify kidnapping into two categories; first degree kidnapping and second degree kidnapping. According to C.R.S. 18-3-301, a person commits first degree kidnapping if s/he carries any person from one place to another using force; or persuades another to move; or imprisons or secrets any person with the intent to force the victim to make any concession or give up anything of value in order to secure release.

William Koch, the billionaire energy tycoon and prominent Republican donor, allegedly kidnapped and interrogated at a remote Aspen ranch a former top-level executive whom he suspected of subversion.
According to Courthouse News Service, Kirby Martensen, a former executive of several Koch subsidiaries, has filed suit in federal court seeking punitive damages for the alleged incident. The Huffington Post on Saturday confirmed the story with Martensen’s lawyer.

In the suit, Martensen charges that in March, Koch lured him and other employees to a secluded Aspen ranch—one with no cell phone reception or connection to the outside world—under “false pretenses.” Though Martensen thought he had been called to Aspen to discuss business, he was instead interrogated, searched and held against his will for over twenty-four hours before finally being freed.

Billionaire Koch brother accused of imprisoning, interrogating former employee | The Raw Story
I don't know about this story but I do know that you and other progs continually attack my sources because they are right leaning blogs. I consider Raw Story to be a left leaning blog so will have to ask you what is so great about stories from Raw Story backed up by HuffPo which is pretty far left with Soros as one of the ones who gives it money now and then.,

I know that you hate the Kochs, and are glad to accept anything like this story whether you have any proof other than left blogs to use. Ok, I have attacked your sources so we are even for some of my stories of today and yesterday. Now I will read what others have said to you.
