They were numerous and strong back in the day. Did they die along with Jerry Falwell? They aren't as vocal nowadays. I also can't believe the RR will actually cast their vote for a member of the Mormon faith.

What do you mean? The religious right is still very active. Most Conservatives on this forum seem to come from the religious right. Billy Graham just changed his long standing position on Mormonism being a cult in order to endorse Romney.

Well, I guess the media doesn't refer to them as the religious right anymore. They're just plain ol' conservatives?

There never was a religious right that stood firmly on its religious beliefs. The religious right believes more in politics than their professed religion.

BINGO!!!!

They were frauds to begin with. And their access to power and easy financial contributions just made it all the more obvious.

Eventually, they realized that the Reagan and Bush Administrations were just using them to get the votes of the dimwits, and actually laughed at them behind their backs.

The religious right, as you refer to them, were followers of some right wingers like Falwell.

They attempted to hijack the Republican party. There are still some of them around who seem to be one-issue types, such as making abortion a litmus test for a candidate.

Conservatives in general are moderates. The right wingers are eschewed by moderates as being one-issue types and too focused on their own agenda rather than the big picture.

Most people are turned off by folks who want to insert religion into politics -- and that is true regardless of someone's voter registration.
