Karen Moon, Director of UNC News Services, did note that the policy change occurred in 2009. It has recently garnered attention after the libertarian news personality, John Stossel, highlighted it in his show earlier this month.

Really??? Who has a problem with the term freshman?

Feminazis could just use the word 'Freshwoman' and leave everyone else alone but I have a feeling they want everyone to deal with this garbage.

I propose freshprogeny. Can't really say person because that would be sexist also.

Can't use "freshmen"? Really? Maybe the nuts out there should stop using "woman" or "women" because there's a "man" or "men' word in them. Sheesh!

I don't care what terms people want to use to describe things in their business. I think it's silly but what's sillier is complaining and trying to force them to use the term just so it appears they aren't doing something for reasons you don't like. Who cares??

Unfortunately things like this bring out the worst and also show that whoever had this idea is pretty ignorant since the last part of the word "woman" is what now? Oh yah..."man".

So when will "human" or "mankind" be considered sexist? These people can take a log jump off a short pier. Are men screaming about "midwives" term too? Guess this school needs to change, i'm offended!!! American College of Nurse-Midwives

they were gong to call them "freshpersons"

but then they realized that "person" contains the word "son" and is therefore sexist.

maybe "freshpersun" would work
