Bump the spending up to $70K or $80K per year and then we won't have any more poor.
Everyone will then be middle class.
Just seems to me that this is the only way to eliminate poverty..give them MORE.

Even fast food workers places that pay $7.25 an hour have trouble getting enough workers where the cheapest apartments are $800 & a 6 year old economy car needed to get to job costs costs nearly $10,000. Probably will need many repairs, and, of course, insurance.
We have almost 50 million in this country who need govt help to pay for food! And that's just the food that might cause cancer, not much more expensive organic.
Illegal aliens aren't #1 expense in US. The Defense Dept wars cost us trillions & don't make us safer. And our medical system- approved meds often don't work, have many side effects, including causing other conditions, so more pills needed. And pills taken as directed kill 125,000 Americans a year. 1/6th of all $$ spent in this country are on health care. Example of problem: a man said his mom tried 25 different prescriptions to stop seizures. None worked. Then she tried cannabis ("marijuana") & no more seizures, as long as it was used.
Meanwhile, "marijuana" can't be legalized because the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 claims it is a dangerous drug with no medical value, despite having over 120 medical uses according to top expert Dr. Lester Grinspoon rxmarijuana.com/ & 0 proven deaths in 10,000 years of use by over 1 billion people. The govt wants us to believe a plant medicine is more of a threat to our health than nuclear war!
Anyone who votes Republican or Democrat IMO is wasting their vote. They've sold themselves to the highest bidders, so they must help the 1% who don't need help & not care about the 99% who mostly want less corporate control over their lives.

illegal aliens can't get welfare because they aren't AMERICAN CITIZENS but of course theirs children can because they are anchor babies ( in other words AMERICAN CITIZEN ) the only benefits that adult illegal aliens receive is free " emergency room medical help " and i don't want to stop that ( because i have a heart made up of human flesh ) until the USA started it's employee vertification program adult illegal aliens worked and paid into the ( social security retirement system ) and couldn't draw benefits when they reached retirement age (American Received Theirs Benefits )
Illegal AMERICAN CITIZEN KIDS receive food stamps and not the parents , and I don't want to take the food stamps away from the kids.

We will never win the war on poverty until the federal government inact a program similar to the WPA
program that was in effect during the great depression 1930's ...
that gave people self respect and pride in doing work and having a work ethnic yet still receiving needed

This may be true, but it is presented in a biased manner. About 20% of a given population will be responsible for 80% of effects (or costs) in any given scenario. Your "median" welfare recipient at any given time will receive nowhere near $60,000 per year. However, there are a small proportion of "exceptional" cases that receive more, even far more, than that figure. Some of the most expensive "welfare cases" include vulnerable children and adults unable to work (with developmental disabilities or severe psychological disorders) and cancer patients, who often find themselves having to turn to Medicaid and SSI. I don't think anybody with a heart would leave these individuals out in the cold.
I agree. Take medicaid, for example. If you divide medicaid expenditures by all recipients, it works out to a certain number. However, not all medicaid recipients receive that amount of money. A preemie may receive millions of dollars in medicaid money, whereas a healthy 3 year old may receive only an annual physical exam, worth $100, give or take.

Oh yes they can. There are waivers, exceptions and "emergency" programs they can apply to and get benefits.
Dr 74.. don't give me the hardship stories with illegals.. They pulling the wool over your eyes..and if you helped them with income tax you must be aware that they claim more kids then they have and they get much more back then they paid into? Have you ever heard of people getting murdered by their gangs who spend their days working our jobs and their nights building their gang members and selling weapons and drugs? Have you ever heard of people becoming severely disabled by an illegal alien and that illegal has been hidden forever and no where to be found? The average household, on government assistance, has more money spent on them than I bring home after taxes. I work nights, twelve hour shifts and I am over 50. Why do I do this to myself? Makes me want to sit on the sofa and let someone else support me.
This is what is quickly destroying this country. The lazy who never will work no longer live as well as the hardworking taxpayers, now they live much better -- Many working people live without cell phones, internet, and cable and have to carefully scrimp and save to buy enough food while the welfare class lives high on the hog with their government provided cell phones, free internet and cable and utilities, nice government provided housing, and food stamps that allow them to heap their carts with brand name foods and even steak and lobster. They get free babysitting and day care, unlimited free health care.
It really pays not to work.
