Those of you against government, how would all the destruction be repaired by private entities?

Obviously, it wouldn't. Just another reason why we need to bond together as a country with a strong government.

This storm will cause population loss in the area.

Florida's economy will be the big winner when the exodus out of NY/NJ begins.

I don't think I've read about anyone against "government" but go ahead and be extreme.
Who wants ZERO government ? Just a free for all in the US ? Warlords and tribes perhaps ?
Who ?

Romney wants to privatize FEMA.

Quote:
Asked about federal disaster relief for recent tornado and flood victims at last night’s GOP debate, candidate Mitt Romney called the spending “immoral” and said the Federal Emergency Management Agency should be privatized.

People would survive and restore their towns and property the same way they have for centuries. They work together to rebuild. Organizations, like charities and churches, would rally around people and give them something the government can never give. Inspiration and hope. All you have to do is read about the history of this great country and realize that most of the achievements against tragedy or set backs are from people working together for the common good and not a government mandate. Big government has not "bonded" a country and they are not our mommies and daddies.

Like Florida isn't hit by hurricanes. That would be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!

Judging from the damage I saw on the news, your proposed method would take maybe ten years or more.

Don't worry FEMA has 3.6 billion in the kitty to come in and throw around right off the bat and congress will approve as much more as they want. All is well. Just keep your eyes peeled for the crooked contractors all making an Oklahoma land rush to the east coast about now.
