Ashley, 28, Los Angeles, California. Ashley is an aspiring actress who moved to L.A. 6 years ago after dropping out of bible college in her native Indiana. She still goes to church, but has lived a relatively liberal life-style, including having sex with her last boyfriend. She volunteers with her church social justice group and works part-time as a nanny, but her acting "career" has never really gone anywhere. She is currently considering a move to Arizona (she has a close cousin in Tempe) for the cheaper cost of living and a "new start".
Miguel, 33, Denver, Colorado. Miguel is a mechanical engineer working for a defense contractor firm in the Denver suburbs. He enjoys skiing, going to the shooting range and reading Ayn Rand novels. A self-proclaimed Atheist, he was engaged to be married last year, but he called it off at the last minute. He voted for Ron Paul in the Republican Primaries.
Adam, 25, Racine, Wisconsin. Adam just got back last year from a tour of duty with the Marines in Afghanistan. He initially got a union job working with his father for an auto-glass manufacturer, but the factory closed down last summer due to capital outsourcing to China. Since then, Adam has been doing his monthly national guard duty while working part-time as a sales clerk at Best Buy. He lives with his girlfriend and their 3-year-old child. They enjoy watching sports games together and occasionally use marijuana.
Jannice, 39, Roanoke, Virginia. Jannice is a divorced mother of one daughter with diabetes. She and her husband-of-10-years parted ways a few years ago after their marriage became stale and her husband left their church and became an agnostic. A life-long Evangelical Protestant, she also left her old church this year over frustration with feeling negatively judged for her failed marriage. She has since joined a smaller, more traditional Protestant church and made new friends, but is frustrated with the dating scene and she's also had a miserable time finding reliable health insurance for her daughter.
Marissa, 46, Bridgeport, Conneticut. Marissa is a Yale-graduate businesswoman who commutes to her job with an investment firm in New York. She and her husband, a public defense attorney, have never had any children and are both practicing vegans. A former active member of NOW, Marissa resigned her membership over disagreements with the organization's "narrow-minded and blatantly partisan" leadership. She now guest speaks at women's organizations at her alma-mater and gives tutorial seminars on personal portfolio management.

Bible college/church group makes me think that she's voting for Romney.

Gary Johnson.

Union worker lost his job to outsourcing in China, he's definitely not voting for Romney. I'd say either Johnson or Obama for this guy.

She sounds like a Romney supporter, but health insurance may motivate her to vote for Obama.

Obama, definitely. Women's organizations that aren't religious and childless vegans just scream "Obama" to me.
Interesting thread. Are these real people or hypotheticals?

You didn't mention what any of them think about any of the issues. So how should we know who they'd vote for? The fact that you think we should be able to determine who would vote for who just based on their lifestyles is laughable, although it's also why most people shouldn't vote at all; because they only vote for who they are told they are "suppose to" rather than what they actually think (because mostly they DON'T think).

If I'm not mistaken, that's kind of the whole point of this thread - to GUESS which way they'd vote, based ONLY on their "demographic" or vague description. If we knew how they felt about each issue, wouldn't that make guessing a bit too easy?

Data-mine the bastards. Find out what they buy, when they're born, what TV shows they watch, which websites they visit. You'll have a pretty good idea after that. Demographics in the modern era go waaaaay past age, sex, location.
