In 2010 there was a landslide of new conservative representatives in Congress.

In 1980 and 1984 Reagan won landslide elections.

The last Republican landslide presidential election was GHW Bush in 1988. But he didn't win the second term because he failed the country on his conservative promise of "read my lips, no new taxes."

GW Bush won two terms, but just barely. He was a moderate like his father.

Mitt Romney lost because he didn't have a clear conservative message. He was trying to appeal to moderates way too much.

This is the magic key. Liberty is what the recent immigrants have come here for. They just haven't heard a candidate express this idea very well. Socialism, big government, and rigged elections are what they are trying to escape.

America is ripe and ready for a new conservative president!

The country has passed "true conservatives" by. Adapt to a 2012 America or quickly become irrelevant.

absolutely right ozzy, republicans are not going to win elections by being democrats or democrat light anymore. we need real conservatives like marco rubio, susanna martinez, bobby jidhal, etc. and republicans are not going to win on social issues either.

Right on, man! No candidate should be over 25 years old! No one can run unless he has at least one gay couple in his circle of friends! Pass the weed, dude!

I would have to disagree. Social issues are what are going to help us win. They are a primary reason that GW Bush won both of his terms, and the reason he got a larger share of Latino and black votes as well.

In that case find someone who is far right and work to get them nominated in 2016. See how that works out for you.

A true conservative isn't going to help you. Few people are pure anything anymore, least of all when it comes to politics. We don't live in a black and white world.

How do you consider or define Reagan as a 'true conservative'?

He raised taxes half a dozen times, grew the number of government jobs (and thus the size of the government), signed the immigration reform act and gave amnesty to almost 3 million illegal immigrants and heck, he even compromised with the Dems in order to get things done.

Reagan's win and popularity is attributable to many things - several of them have absolutely nothing to do with his actual political beliefs. There was just something about Reagan. The x factor if you will, that made both sides willing to overlook a lot of things. He did not, however, win because he was a true conservative.

That's right... the reason you've been rejected is because you're not extremist enough.

You need to start actively burning books, ordering women back to the kitchen, and hanging all non-whites from trees! Then the crowds will come flocking!

The 2010 elections saw Republicans win only in gerrymandered districts. They haven't won a national election since Bush in 2004 and that was by the narrowest margin imaginable. In 2000 they even lost the popular vote. The FACT is you can win in unfair local gerrymandered districts but you increasingly can't win in national elections. Becoming more extreme will only make you even more marginal and you're a fool to think other wise.
