I believe its actually 47 states but they don't show up if they are under 150 signatures...I know Texas and Louisiana are both over 25k so they will at least get a response even though I don't expect this to be taken seriously and that is a very dumb thing to do.

I'll agree with that.

Compare the tax rates. The founders started a revolution for far less than we are burdened by now.

That was taxation without representation. Today we have taxation with representation. (Unless you happen to live in the District of Columbia.)

No one is forcing you to stay.

Coming from someone who I'm sure would follow right along like a sheep if his/her "representative" imposed a 100% tax.

Such a representative would quickly lose his or her job, and rightly so.

Actually we shall see if that's true when the white house issues its reply to our petitions...if they say no then indeed we are being forced to stay.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. In a speech at the White House, 1962

They are being given a chance to allow peaceful separation.

Oh, good grief. The whole "petition" thing is just a publicity stunt by the White House, and a way for it to gather email addresses. It has no legal weight whatsoever. Even if some low-level White House drone were to reply, "good for you! Go for it!" it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference.

If you really want to pursue secession, you'll have to invest just a little bit more than simply filling in a web form. Question is, are you really willing to do that?

Oh please. The White House is going to issue a reply to a bunch of whiny-a$$es? Wassamatta, you guys ticked off that he won again and you weren't successful with the birfer nonsense? Really they should change the name of the site to "We the Whiny-A$$es."
