This guy speaks way too much common sense for the "conservative" party. I'm sure they will make him a pariah and run him right out of government.

Here's a paragraph that jumps out.

"Apparently referring to claims by House Republicans and Mitt Romney this year that the defense budget had been grievously cut by the Obama administration, Coburn said it is time to "undermine a little bit of the BS. There has been no real cuts yet to the Pentagon. There just hasn't been the hoped-for, desired increases in spending, so therefore if we didn't get the increase in spending, we call that a cut in Washington."

Love DR Tom Coburn. He was making noise about giving up his seat a few years ago but I think something clicked and he sees how important it is that he remain as the last voice of sanity in Wash DC.

Cuts to budget increases are all anyone has called for on anything. Pay attention. Coburn bringing this up makes you love him all of a sudden? It's common sense that has been brought up on this board multiple times by others.

Coburn has been saying similar stuff for years - why the sudden liberal adoration?

I agree with him btw.

Several people have made common sense suggestions, but the difference is - he's in a better position to do more than talk.

Really? He's been talking for some time and nobody has been listening. I guess he better get in a better position but with that R next to his name nobody will be listening for four more years that I can guarantee.

Here's a Republican I can relate to, and I'm sure a target of his own party in the future.
Good grief! Dr. Coburn has been discovered, whilst hiding in plain sight for years and years.

You are right that no one is listening to Coburn, he is also the one that has also pointed out over lapping programs that cost billions. That has been in the forum a couple of times and included his speech on the floor. Too bad we can not give him a axe if we could you could bet his own party would be screaming bloody murder. He is one of a few {R}s that I like.
