Nope. The man violated the law of another country, sorry, being American does not give that American to do what they want to anywhere in the world. Even if he is a ex-marine.

How would you get him out? Invade Mexico like Iraq?

Can any of the military fetishists posting their support for this alleged criminal please list the laws which members of the military active or not are no longer subject to?

We already know that they think that an ex-Marine has the right to bring a firearm into any country they want, I just want to see what other laws some people think they no longer have to follow.

This could be a huge boon for recruiting. Being granted a lifetime exemption from the criminal laws of any country puts the GI bill to shame as far as a perk is concerned.

In my experience there are also signs on the international bridges. The truck driver was released a week or so ago - about 6 months after his imprisonment. The US gov't worked to get him out and are undoubtedly doing the same for this Marine.
.

One really is not firing on all pins to carry firearms into any foreign country. He would have likey experienced issues in Costa Rica, too.

A donation to the local economy will be negotiated and resolved to save another American from their own foolish choices.

Mainstream media has covered the stroy. The individual caused his own problem. For someone people say is so intelligent, he surely demonstrated his ignornace. No sympathy from me. Those of us in the USA expect visitors to obey our laws and Mexico is entitled to have respect for its laws as well.

No you don't or you would support rounding up all alien illegals immediately and shipping them back to their country of origin.

When traveling, know the local laws. If you can't be arsed to do your research, well - this is the sort of risk you run.

And seeing as the US has argued vigorously that foreign citizens in US jail most certainly can't claim any rights to even consult with their own country's diplomatic representation, it takes some chutzpah to be all hurt and offended that Mexico isn't bending over backwards to accommodate a guy who was either ignorant (no excuse) or just decided to take the chance. What's that saying? "Don't do the crime.."

Of course, making this a high-profile case would be just the sort of futile jingoistic gesture that the Perpetually Offended Right seems to love, although it blows up in their faces every time.
