Apparently Florida Senator Bill Nelson got involved and made a direct appeal for his release. This is good news.

Senator Rose Ros-Lehtinen has been instrumental in getting his release. It also did not hurt that Bill O'Reilly has been encouraging a boycott on travel to Mexico and Mexican goods.

Thank you Mexico for your awesome gun laws!

'Cuz we know our friendly neighbors to the south have virtually wiped out crime.

He declared the gun going into Mexico.

He did everything the U.S. Customs officials told him to do.

It's their laws, if you don't like them don't go to Mexico.

Funny how Obama had to call Sandra Fluke to sympathize with her being called a four letter word, but he apparently had no problems letting a veteran rot in a foreign jail for months.

When you unknowingly break a law and victimized nobody and had a good reason for what you were doing and tried to do the right thing at the border and the foreign nation you are in is an ally who receives huge amounts of American aid, I would think they could expedite getting you released. It's not quite as simple as just "do the crime, do the time".

He should have checked with the Mexican customs officials. US customs officials deal with US laws.

He broke a Mexican law, what US Customs told him means nothing.
