Liberals are very happy about America losing superpower status in the coming decade. They see it as social justice. My question is, has there ever been another country where the people longed for their decline and where people were so ashamed of their history and success? All empires and powers rise and fall, but I am unaware that it has ever been by the will of the people as we are seeing in America. I am not saying this is entirely the fault of liberals. George Bush didn't help the situation with the way he handled foreign policy after 9/11, but its liberals who in general despise American might and wealth and wish we were more like a Scandinavian country.
I am beginning to wonder if a breakup of America is closer than we think. It was once liberals and conservatives had similar goals but different ways to get there. Now the two sides want two entirely different countries.

Losing the fictional title of "superpower of the world" only matters to mouth-breathers who think that global politics is a NASCAR race.

I guess you could say a Scandinavian country isn't going around randomly attacking other countries. You have a funny definition of superpower and this country.
A quote from, that notorious liberal, Pat Buchanan:
“Now let me repeat the warning: If this Prodigal Nation does not cease its mindless interventions in quarrels and wars that are not America’s concern, our lot will be endless acts of terror until, one day, a weapon of mass destruction is detonated on American soil. What is it about global empire that is worth taking this risk?”

Well, he's as liberal as they come. He's a communist.

I would ask Conservatives in this country the same question. You talk about the "will of the people" to see their country decline? Conservatives have been longing for exactly that from the moment President Obama took office. It's been their goal, boldly stated right out loud to the media and the world at large--make certain the country failed under President Obama. They were willing to sacrifice the welfare of Americans, to sacrifice America's credit rating, to sacrifice America's standing in the world, to make certain nothing, nothing was accomplished during this president's term. That sounds like a desire to see their country decline to me.
And now you come along wringing your hands and waving your flag and claiming Liberals are the ones who want to see America fail?

This is a strawman thread -- a thread based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.
The contention that "liberals are very happy about America losing superpower status" and 'liberals generally despise American might and wealth,' is pathetically stupid and without evidence to support it.
Some politically important Republican Konservatives are fighting to see President Obama fail at everything or anything so there will never again be the risk of a black president. The RW's racism exceeds all rationality because this is a threat to class exclusion and that is even more important than money to some fanatics. It is also far more important than our international status and respect.
These people are not patriots but frightened little men that fear the loss of control and exclusivity for themselves and their childern more than they care for their country.
