As long as we tolerate unregulated gun ownership by citizens, we will have to accept these sorts of things. Banning assault rifles, large magazines etc will not stop or reduce it appreciably. There are just too many guns out there on the streets and in homes. Only a total and absolute ban on possession will do. More people died in this shooting today than in the UK, which severely restricts firearms, from shootings in an entire year. Repeal the applicable provisions of the 2nd Amendment, confiscate guns and put them in armories allowing them only to be checked out by unquestionably responsible people for hunting and shooting sports.
That's the logistical problem. I guess you can start off banning its production and importation. Then move to a voluntary amnesty where folks turn them in for some sort of monetary compensation then enact laws that criminalize its possession I see no other way.
He's not mocking the victims, he's mocking the imbeciles who crawl out of their slimy holes in the immediate aftermath of these massacres to stammer out of their fungus-infected mouths that what we really need is to arm everyone so they can stop these massacres as they happen. The same low-grade imbeciles who wanted us to arm college students on campuses.

I highly doubt that. Very few gun owners would use their guns if there was a danger of someone actually shooting back. They would hand them right over.
Can we please wait before the dead are buried before we talk politics. We have as many as 30 people dead, including innocent children.

Nope they wouldn't lots of folks are all talk few actually will act on convictions. Of course there will be some incidents but this assumes the government will aggressively seize arms. They can ban these weapons without doing so.
