About darn time!

Texas School District Will Let Teachers Carry Guns

A tiny Texas school district may be the first in the nation to pass a law specifically allowing teachers and staff to pack heat when classes begin later this month.

That's the great thing about this country, in that every state is an experiment in democracy. We'll see how well it works out in that district, then, if it results in less school violence, look at expanding it throughout the country. It's good to see come common sense applied to the problem of school violence, instead of just irrational, knee-jerk reactions.

Much like concealed carry laws, I expect the hand-wringing emotionalists will be on here decrying blood running in the streets...then after 3 decades of evidence that they were wrong...they will still be making the same arguement.

Hopefully they will expand on that, use it as an opportunity to teach kids about guns, both the dangers, and the ways to handle them responsibly.

What if the teacher goes nuts?

I hope they screen the teachers for psychological drugs.

In an era where teachers are having group sex with children, why do you trust them with guns?

I bet the kids will be a bit more polite too..

I agree with this, but i also agree, with remote control - door bolt locks, that would secure the room

What if...what if the world ends on the 21st?

You can speculate all day long till it wears you out both mentally & physically, the end result will always be the same.

There is no guaranteed answer to the worlds problems.

Will it make Texas schools safer? Are airplanes safer with armed marshalls on board?

Impossible for it to result in less violence as this school district consists of a single 110 student school with no history of violence.

what happens with the teachers who dont want to carry.

it takes a certain mindset to feel comfortable killing somebody and being completely in the moment and not uneasy.

On the one hand, the righties tell us that teachers are overpaid, lazy, unionized scum who can't find real jobs...

and now they want them to carry weapons.
