Like it or not, this is what America is about in 2012. You can't say this is a conservative country or a center-right country anymore. We are very close to the entire nation being like San Francisco has been for years. Conservatives, both social and economic, have lost and are never coming back.
I am all for gay marriage and congrats on the dude proposing to another dude....
but I will personally try and lead a revolution if the US becomes like San Fransisco...
Too bad his husband will be banned from things like family base housing, shopping the commissary and PX, etc.
And barred from equal access to the VA facilities and health care. I know, we applied and were denied because of DOMA, it stated specifically that because of DOMA that they would not recognize us as a couple and I was denied the option of using the VA medical facilities. Oddly, I have been approved to go to college full time, if I choose to, on his GI bill as his spouse.
Equality?The best way to ensure that is get the government out of the marriage business.
I see your point here. I can concede this point, but only a little - a marriage license ought to be available to anyone of legal age and of sound mind willing and able to consent no matter the make up of the couple.
