All Obama has been doing since the shooting, is using this awful tragedy as a tool to promote political agendas. Obama is using dead children and hurricane victims to push both gun control and tax increases, it really does not get much lower then this,

"I've said I'm willing to make some cuts. What separates us is probably a few hundred billion dollars. The idea that we would put our economy at risk because you can't bridge that gap doesn’t make a lot of sense.

So I'm going to continue to talk to the Speaker and the other leaders up in Congress. But, ultimately, they've got to do their job. Right now their job is to make sure that middle-class taxes do not go up and that we have a balanced, responsible package of deficit reduction.

It is there for all to see. It is a deal that can get done. But it is not going to be -- it cannot be done if every side wants 100 percent. And part of what voters were looking for is some compromise up here. That’s what folks want. They understand that they're not going to get 100 percent of what they want. And for some reason, that message has not yet taken up on Capitol Hill.

And when you think about what we've gone through over the last couple of months -- a devastating hurricane, and now one of the worst tragedies in our memory -- the country deserves folks to be willing to compromise on behalf of the greater good, and not tangle themselves up in a whole bunch of ideological positions that don’t make much sense."

Bush used 9/11 to push the Patriot Act, among other bad bills and policies.

At least the Patriot Act had something to do with the prior acts that had taken place.

Obama - Uses The CT Shooting, Hurricane Sandy To Push Tax Increases
Obama did not use the CT shooting to promote tax increases. After the speech he answered questions from the press. I was amazed that the press asked no questions about gun policies but instead only asked questions about the debt ceiling & fiscal cliff. If Obama didn't answer the questions you'd be accusing him of ducking the question and make up all sorts nefarious explanations and conspiracies for his ducking. The same thing happens when Presidents are on stage with foreign leaders- reporters ignore the foreign leader and only ask questions about domestic hot topics.

I saw the speech and my first thought is he was trying tie the shooting and hurricane to the fiscal cliff. It was an attempt to use emotion to amp up the pressure to get his way. Democrats also say that the two are not connected and it was an attempt to tie them together.

Fail! They are not connected.

The country deserves a president who is willing to compromise on behalf of the greater good. Obama wants it his and he understands his base is made of people who live by emotion so that is why he tried tying the two together.

Deflection, right out of the box. If libs are anything, they are predictable, and ignorance is at the top of the list.

First of all, natural disasters and murdered children have nothing to do with demanding tax increases, and the Patriot Act is centered around terrorism.

Now, go back to sleep.

Obama is too busy wallowing in his own narcissism, and practicing to be overly self righteous and pompous, to actually sit down and compromise. Using a national tradgedy like this to push for political policies on tax increases is a new low, even for Obama.

We elect presidents to protect our constitutional rights and freedoms and enforce our laws, not to dictate our rights and freedoms to us.

This....coming from the most ideologically entrenched President to grace the Oval Office in decades.

Unbelievable.
