A Central Texas school board is banning the Confederate battle flag from district property and district-sponsored events.
Hays board members voted 5-2 Monday to amend the student code of conduct to ban the flag, which was formerly displayed with the Hays High School Rebel mascot. The ban also covers any imagery deemed to be racially hostile, offensive or intolerant.
Good. It's shameful that in the 21st century we still have public institutions flying a flag that represents racism and treason.
Maybe to you. But a lot of good men died under that flag, and many werent any more racist than the northeners were. Most never owned a slave. It's a shame that neo nazi dipsh*ts used this symbol and ruined it.

A lot of good men died under the Nazi flag. Your not too bright are you?

Good news! when I lived in Austin, I remember my black coworker said that she had a black friend that had a good job there. He endured the racial slurs of the area only because the job was so well paying. Many of those communities tucked away from Austin have long histories of racism. I'm glad to see that they are making progress.

Read some about the Texas Relays and you'll find that the city of Austin, itself, has a bit of questionable racist tendencies.

It is usually those people that tend to ruin most things.

Texas Relays? What's that? I know some of the history of Austin, that minorities were driven out of certain parts of town, etc.
Just googled it. I seem to remember something about that. Austin has had much tougher racism than that. Just look at the white UT fraternities and sororities to start out with. It only snowballs from there.
