According to CNN at link: Fiscal cliff winners and losers - CNN.com

"The two-year payroll tax holiday is over, so take-home pay will go down -- around $2,000 less a year for the average wage earner as the rate went from 4.2% to 6.2%."

Um....2% = $2,000? Since when is the "average wage earner" making $100,000?

Doesnt it go from 4.2% to 6.2% for both the employee and employer. Thats how it works in the UK. Ie that would make the average wage $50k (still seems high)

The article says "take home pay" will go down by $2,000. These CNN people need to take math classes or writing classes, or maybe both.

Yes many cronies got their breaks extended while we serfs got ours eliminated.
That $2000 would be spent so much better in the private economy than letting the gangsters in DC use it to purchase votes.

That's not the point of my thread.

No. The 2% reduction only went to employees.

If you make enough money these things don't matter.

If not, what's holding you back?

Apparently 2013's taxes applied to this check.
